Five Things Friday
Happy Friday! I don’t know about anyone else, but I am ready for this long weekend to get started. We have some plans with friends, but nothing unmanageable. It should be a relaxing but fulfilling weekend all around.
I take Fridays to write a bit about what I am loving right now. This Friday is no different, so here is my list:
As I talk about periodically, I am in recovery and 5/20 was my 4 year anniversary. I am very grateful to those people who are in my life and help me along in my journey. The 21st was my celebration and it was great to have people show up and show their support. I raked in a LOT of flowers which is fine with me because I love them! I was even so graciously gifted some greens and herbs and a card with my new Starbucks name. No, that is not beer. It is a kombucha that I haven’t been able to find but have wanted to try. My friends are awesome.
2. Opportunites to Give Back
This is associated with #1, but I have been able to give back to the community by sharing my story and speaking at forums and events on drug abuse and prevention. It helps me in my journey by helping others in theirs. Here are some pictures from Monday’s speech.
Obviously something serious was going on. I also swiped a free pen.
Whenever I don’t have lunch or dinner, I can always run across the street to Giant and stock up on all sorts of colorful foods. It was very handy this week.
4. Bikram Yoga
I know I have listed this before, but now since I have officially been sidelined from running it is my savior. I haven’t been to the gym in a bit for LEG DAY because I feel like this is more necessary right now. I hardly ever stretch and then I lift weights and run and am just a ball of tension. That contributes to my IT band/knee issue, so right now I am working on fixing that. Blah.
5. Memorial Day (aka pools opening day)
I was able to go to my friend’s pool last weekend, but this weekend is the official opening of pools. I suppose it is also to remember those who died serving our country, but I choose to do that by relaxing for them beside a pool. Awesome.
