The Weekend of a Thousand Movies…Or Four.

Hello and happy Monday!

How was your weekend? Mine was filled with a lot of eating and relaxing (again).  First thing’s first: they are filming Chicago PD at/around my building so come on down if you want to be famous.

I ran into someone in the elevator who is not pleased about the filming because it is upsetting his cat.  Maybe the cat is just upset that it doesn’t have a walk on.

I was planning on working out at some point this weekend, but my body was sore towards the end of the week from working out four days in a row while already sore. I decided to let myself actually recover before going HAM again.  I am going to end up having two workouts in one day tomorrow because I am going to a blogging event at night, so I stand by my resting decision.

This isn’t technically the weekend, but Friday we made a Blue Apron meal (click here for 2 free meals!) for lunch. We made a White Pizza with Meyer Lemon & Arugula-Brussels Sprout Salad.  I am not normally a fan of white pizza, but this had all sorts of flavors (including eggs) that I liked.

It looks like nothing happened on Saturday because I don’t have any pictures, so I was probably reading under a blanket and also studying for my NASM exam. Or playing Zelda. Continue playing? Is that even a question?

BUT WAIT. Something DID happen on Saturday and that is that I stumbled upon a recipe for a chocolate chip mug cookie and that has been my demise.  I was in the mood for a cookie, but I hate when I make a whole recipe and then end up eating cookies for days.  Yes, I could just not eat them everyday, but we all know that’s not going to happen.

I made this cookie in the microwave in 45 seconds and now that I know I have cookies at such immediate disposal, the possibilities are endless. I want to tweak the recipe a little before I share it with you, but let’s just say that this was probably the highlight of my weekend. The picture is awful, but be glad that I even captured it before devouring the whole thing.

Sunday Neil and I met with one of our friends from back home for brunch since he is in the city to speak at a conference.  We ended up going to Yolk and I got West Coast crepes which are scrambled eggs with mushrooms, avocado, and cheese folded into two crepes.

We stopped at Intelligensia for epsresso and then I marveled at the $10 chocolate bars next door. I chose poorly last time and bought a maple & chocolate bar which tasted awful to me. I didn’t want to make the same mistake again, so I just window shopped this time.

I guess I should tie this back into the title of this post, so I have to mention that we also watched two movies back to back on Saturday and Sunday nights.  We saw Whiplash (amazing), Nightcrawler (also good), Dumb and Dumber 2, and Playing It Cool. Saturday night was definitely a night of better movies, but overall the weekend was great and relaxing. Have a great Monday!

So many movies!! I honestly haven’t sat down and actually watched a movie in forever. It’s kind of terrible! I definitely need to do that more! Looks like a great weekend though – I can’t wait for your mug cake/cookie recipe. I can never seem to get them exactly right!

Neil and I get bored and end up watching waaaaay too many movies in the evenings. I think we may have a problem.

How was the brunch at Yolk? What you ordered sounds delicious! I’ve made mug cakes, but never a mug cookie, so I’m looking forward to you sharing the recipe.

Sounds like a perfect weekend to me! I love mug cakes and cookies, but sometimes they are a gateway snack for me. Though, these days, mostly everything is a gateway food lol.

Oh I can definitely understand that. I need to slow my roll on them.
