I’m going to keep today’s post short and sweet because a) I only took four pictures this weekend and b) there are plenty of magnificent Chicago Marathon recaps to read through. BIG CONGRATS to everyone who ran (and ran and ran and ran…). The weather was perfect and I’m so proud of all those people who pushed through, set new personal records, and simply finished!
All of my pictures are food. Let’s just pretend that I ran the marathon and then ate all of this.
Saturday morning Neil and I hung all of our art (pictures to come) and then decided to head to Au Cheval to experience what has been termed “the best burger in Chicago.” They opened at 11 am and we arrived at 11:15 am to a 90 min wait. We knew to expect one and wandered around for about an hour before returning to wait outside.
The wait was definitely worth it. Our burgers had cheese, dijonnaise, maple bacon, and a sunny side up egg. It also comes with pickles, but I didn’t get those on mine. When we ordered, our waiter asked if we wanted to split one and we laughed in his face. On second thought, splitting it may have been a good idea. It’s a lot of burger.
While it was an excellent burger and we are happy having gone and experienced it, I don’t think I need to go wait in an excessive line again to have another. If you’ve never gone, definitely go, just make sure to get there before they open (or eat something beforehand).
Saturday night Neil made his own version of a Blue Apron meal that Matt brought over by roasting the vegetables, crisping the kale, and combining the egg with onions.
Sunday morning I had two training sessions, Neil prepared an epic crock pot meal, I watched the Packers win (!), and then fell asleep on the couch. It’s a tough life I lead. Oh, and I also had gelato.
This morning I have two early training sessions, then it’s time to get back into the swing of exercising. I extended my vacation hiatus when I got back last week and only got a good workout in once last week. Let’s do this!
