It’s finally gotten cold enough again in Chicago to where I feel like it might be time for Christmas next week, but I still feel like the month of December has flown by. Thankfully I got all my presents mailed out and am good to go. Granted, many of those simply involved buying things online and shipping them to people, but I’m still proud of myself.
Things are slowing down work-wise for me this weekend. I only have to work one day and then next week I’m off the whole weekend. It’s glorious. I want to get out and explore the city again so that there’s more to share with you on Monday aside from “I took naps on the couch” (although I’m not ruling that out).
To wrap up the week, here are five of my favorite things:
I make these every year around the holidays because a) they’re simple and b) they’re delicious. The recipe makes enough to split into 3-4 gift bags to share with someone or 3-4 bags to partition out to yourself so that you don’t eat them all in one sitting.
I live near a Marshall’s but somehow have forgotten how useful it is. I stopped in yesterday to look for a last minute gift and remembered their awesome (and random) food selection. Now that I have been putting more work into the pictures I take, I’ve given more thought to props and colors. They also have an eclectic supply of mugs, dishes, and any other kind of prop your heart desires. I have my eye on all these wooden trinkets.
3. Almond Pops with Blueberries
I used to buy these from Marshall’s when I lived in VA but had forgotten about them since we moved here. The last bag I bought were Almond Pops with Cranberries and I don’t know why I even tempted fate. These are so much better and I finally have a decent snack before bed.
Bonus: gluten, peanut, and dairy-free for my friends with dietary restrictions (ahem, Konika)
4. Seanik Shampoo Bar from Lush
I also forgot all about Lush. I used to use their shampoo bars but then never bought another one and I don’t know why. I stopped in the other day to grab one and settled on Seanik which has a mixture of seaweed and lemon for shine and volume. I also got a sample of their Celebrate lotion which is only available seasonally and if you want to legitimately smell like Fruity Pebbles, this is where it’s at.
5. Pistol Squat on a Kettlebell
Ok, maybe I’m reaching for my fifth thing this week, but I was pretty proud of myself for being able to hold this for approximately two seconds.
That’s it for my week—now tell me, what are some of your favorite things from yours?
