Five Things Friday #74 - Erin's Inside Job

Five Things Friday #74

Before we get into what I’ve been loving this week, don’t forget that today is the last day to enter my second DAVIDs TEA giveaway! You have until tonight at midnight CST if you haven’t already gotten those entries in. Head here to check it out.

Today the weather in Chicago is supposed to be in the 50s so I’m going to try and be out as much as I can. Could it actually be warming up? I’m also loving that the days are getting longer. Anyone else?

I don’t have any plans for this weekend so there will more than likely be more adventuring taking place in the city. I’m pumped to finally sleep in and have a couple leisurely mornings. Granted, sleeping in for me these days is somewhere around 7 or 7:30 am, but I’ll take it. To jump start the weekend, I’m here to share some of my favorite things from the past week. Enjoy!

1. Victoria’s Secret Seamless Underwear

Since I live in exercise clothes somewhere around 16 hours a day (give a take a few for when I’m home blogging in sweatpants), I’ve had to step my underwear game up. Previously, I had bought the seamless VSX underwear from Victoria’s Secret, which is their exercise-specific line. I found those to be a little uncomfortable simply because they didn’t seem to fit quite right and would often ride up when I wore them.

Thanks to my blatant questioning of some of my fitness friends, I realized that VS also has a normal line of seamless underwear that fits much better and doesn’t leave any visible lines for when I am teaching or working out. Nice going Victoria’s Secret.

2. Trader Joe’s Dried Mango

I think I’ve been through two or three bags of this in the last week. Eek. First they get me by displaying it right by the checkout, then I see it’s only $1.99, then half the bag is gone by the time I get home and I only live like 3 blocks away. Granted, I always make the mistake of stopping in on my way home from working out, but I’d like to think I have a little more restraint. Not for this apparently.

3. Corporate Fitness

I recently started working with BeneFitness, a company that specializes in corporate fitness. For right now I am only teaching one class a week in the Loop, but as their locations grow in the city I make take on some more classes. I like being able to interact with a different population of people who are dedicated enough to still stay in the building for an extra hour after work to workout. Props to you guys.

Right now there are three locations in the city, which can be found here. If you happen to be local and think that having a fitness solution in your workplace or apartment building would be AWESOME, shoot me an email and I can get you any info you might need!

4. PROBAR

I can’t believe that these haven’t been on one of my Friday posts yet given how long I’ve been eating them. On days when I start super early, I’m either not hungry yet or I don’t have time to make my normal breakfast. True, I could get up even earlier, but when your alarm is already set to 4:15 am, that’s not happening.

My go-to breakfast on those days is a peanut butter chocolate chip PROBAR. They are deliciously filling and hold me over until I can get back home for lunch. That’s when I’ll usually have my post-workout smoothie and a bunch of scrambled eggs because eggs are delicious. Neil also eats them too which is why I just buy them by the box.

5. Inspirational Shirts

Lately I’ve been following different clothing companies on Instagram. I have a new obsession with witty t-shirt designs and ones that offer inspirational and hope-filled messages. Two of my favorites so far have been Eat Healthy Designs and Unlock Hope.

Eat Healthy Designs helps to spread the message about good nutrition in a funny way (I’m obsessed with that “every day I’m brusslin'” shirt) and they also have some of the same designs on stationary as well.

Unlock Hope is another great company that helps young girls in Uganda with every purchase of one of their items. Each time you buy one product, Unlock Hope donates enough money to help cover every single expense for one girl for one day. Usually I’m not a big fan of these types of shirts because the messages are so cheesy, but I really love all the ones from them.

That’s all I’ve got from this week. I hope you have a great weekend and I’ll catch up with you on Monday! Thanks to Heather for her Friday Favorites linkup!

Questions:

  • Do you know any other good clothing companies for me to check out?
  • Fitness ladies–what’s your favorite type of seamless underwear?
  • What are you doing this weekend? (not related to above question) 🙂

    1. I have a shirt from them that says “it’s leg day” with Ariel doing squats. I’m obsessed w Little Mermaid so I had to have it!!

  1. I need that brusslin’ shirt. That’s so ridiculous and awesome.
I’ve never tried probars. How are the ingredients? I really love Lara bars and I completely agree that scrambled eggs are da bomb (yes, I just said “da bomb”)
Thanks for the underwear tip. I get mine from Gap Body and I absolutely love em, but I might give VS a try.
TJ’s is esp. dangerous when I’m hungry because everything looks so good and is so cheap, but I end up spending $3,000 anyway. Have you tried their dark chocolate covered edamame?

    1. I haven’t but I’ll have to check it out! PRO Bar ingredients are pretty good for me and don’t have any dairy or anything in them which is good for me!
