Five Things Friday #87
First off, HAPPY CLEAN DAY TO ME! Thank you all so much for your support in yesterday’s post and if you have no idea what I’m talking about, check it out 🙂
This week has been great. I haven’t been terribly crunched for time like I was the week before and the sun is sllllowly starting to make an appearance here in Chicago. This weekend is also supposed to be nice, so I’m planning on adventuring out on Saturday and attending an EPIC fitness and brunch event on Sunday.
To kick off the start of the weekend, let’s take a look at five things I’m loving this week!
1. Feetures Socks
I am always in continuous need of good quality athletic socks. Even though I’m not exclusively running anymore, I still like to make an investment in my socks since I wear them all day long. Feetures was kind enough to send me a pair of their newest technology, the Elite Max Cushion (I’d buy it on that fancy name alone), and they’ve been great to work out in this week (don’t worry, I washed them and haven’t been wearing them all week long).
They’re thick and cushioned and make a great addition to my fancy sock drawer. They’re also labeled with L and R in case I need a little help in that department.
2. Thrive360 Eatery
I’ve mentioned before on here and social media how much I enjoy eating at The Protein Bar here in Chicago. The food is high in protein, healthy, and delicious. Earlier this week I was able to attend a sneak peek of their newest brand spinoff, Thrive360 Eatery.
The foods are still healthy and delicious, but they wanted to branch out to a wider market and provide options for those people who aren’t as protein and super health focused. There are still plenty of salads, wraps, and bowls, just an increase in some diverse ingredients and options to add things like bacon to your meal. I had a chance to sample just about all their main dishes and they were all AMAZING.
If you work in the Loop or just want to head down there for some great food, make sure to check it out!
3. Lululemon Wunder Under Crops
So I know I’m about 85 years late to this party, but I bought my first pair of Wunder Unders from Lululemon this week. Most of my pants are made from their Luxtreme fabric, which is great for HIIT workouts and has a lot of compression, but I wanted a pant that I can just wear to teach in or day to day. Since most weekends I end up wearing workout pants anyway as leggings, I wanted to invest in a pair I knew would last.
Yes, I bought these at the store and not on the Mercari app. For some reason, these pants on the app are only like $10 cheaper than actually buying them in the store, so with my 15% instructor discount, I figured I’d have a TREAT YOSELF day and grab a new pair.
4. Fage Greek Yogurt + Blueberries
This used to be my FAVORITE breakfast when Neil and I started dating. I would buy the larger tub of Fage Greek yogurt and jam as many blueberries as I could into it and then eat it over two days. Once I cut back on dairy (in milk and yogurt form), I stopped eating this magical creation. Trader Joe’s was selling beautiful ripe blueberries the other day and I knew I had to have this again. Yup, still as delicious as I remember.
5. Weeding
Yesterday I had the privilege of helping to host an event on behalf of Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day products for Plant Something Day. The event was held at the Global Garden Refugee Training Farm, which is actually one of the largest community farms in the city. Over 100 families from Burma and Bhutan use this farm for personal growth and to sell produce to help out the community.
I will have a more detailed recap next week of the event (and a giveaway!), but I just wanted to add this in today because I spent all my time weeding the garden which is actually one of my favorite things to do. I used to sit in the driveway at home and pull weeds for what felt like hours. At first I thought I was crazy, but then I realized so many other people also enjoyed it after being at this event!
So happy my friend and coworker Katie was able to come and help me get my weed on.
In other news, I have two more publications to add to my list if you’re in the mood for some more reading:
- DrugRehab.org Profiles in Recovery
- ACE ProSource – Getting Down To Business With Starting a Health and Fitness Blog
And FINALLY – Make sure to check out my Instagram account later today for an exclusive giveaway opportunity in honor of all my milestones this month! There will be some awesome health and wellness products (also good for your brain and soul!).
I hope you have a GREAT weekend and I’ll see you on Monday!
Questions:
- What are you doing this weekend?
- Do you like weeding or planting better?
You are so weird with your weeding 😀 And yes, Feetures socks are the BEST. They are the only ones that I use!

Glad you found it helpful!
I don’t have any wunder under pants either, so you’re not the only one late to the party. I keep wanting to buy but I hear lots of negative reviews about pilling. So keep me posted on how yours turn out so I know if they are worth the investment.

So the key to that I’ve been told is not to wash them with any heavy cotton or other such fabrics. I wash all my athletic clothes in cold water and air dry them anyway, but specifically with these ones I was told that washing them with heavier fabrics causes them to run together in the wash which is what causes the pilling.
It depends on the type of material they use to make the WU as well re: pilling. I have a few pairs and LURVE them!

I want to congratulate you on year 6. I know exactly what that means because I am recovering one day at a time right along with you. I can’t comment very often because our computers are blocked from blog comments but this was important and I found a way. May 6 is my clean day and this year was #30. 30 years ago I had nothing and now I have everything I need. I am grateful for your blog and read every post and even print out some to keep to read when I need motivation. Congratulations again. Every day counts.
Johanna – this comment is EVERYTHING. thank you so much for reading and commenting. Literally made my day 🙂
I wish we had FAGE in Canada, it’s sooooo good!

Guess that’s another reason to come to Chicago
That Meyer’s event looks really cool. I hope to do a lot of relaxing this weekend and enjoying the nice weather.

I definitely relaxed for sure. It was a nice relaxing weekend 🙂
Yet one more thing we have in common, Erin!! I have always loved gardening; especially weeding. I find it very stress-reducing & actually meditative 🙂
It’s so magical!
