Five Things Friday #101

Hellloooooo Friday!

I have a tiiiiiny bit of work to get done today before my sister lands for the weekend. Getting in an early morning workout, training one client, then it’s PARTY TIME. It’s been just about a year since she was here, so we are going to have new adventures, new foods, and new fun. Follow along on IG stories if you want some behind the scenes action and absurdities. πŸ™‚

Here’s a look at my favorite things from this week! Make sure to tell me some of yours in the comments. I’m always looking for new things to try!

1. Charmed Bar

I know I seem to be going crazy with bars lately and there’s probably one in every Friday post for over a month. There’s also this post. But there’s something about the portability and ease that I love. This week it’s Charmed Bar.

I first crossed paths with these a couple years ago when I went to Expo East. I met the owners and loved the simplicity of the ingredients. There are three flavors and each one uses a different nut butter as the base. Even though I love my almond butter, I think the cashew and PB ones are prob my faves.

2. Sweetgreen

FINALLY. I think I tookΒ Sweetgreen for granted when living in VA since there wasn’t one to be found when moving out to Chicago. They make the best salads I’ve ever had and this week their River North location opened up about 2 blocks from my house.

You know this is a place I love when I get different options every time. I usually find one thing I like on a menu and only order that over and over again, but everything is so good at Sweetgreen that I’ll order depending on what I’m in the mood for that day. If you’re in Chicago, let me know if you ever want to grab lunch!

3. Not Your Mother’s Dry Shampoo

Since I work out pretty consistently during the week, I shower a lot. I don’t always want to wash my hair though (unless it’s soaked in sweat), so I’ve been on the search for a new dry shampoo. The one I currently have is overpriced and smells like I dumped perfume all over myself and I’m just not about that girly life right now.

I took to polling the internet on Instagram and got the most recommendations for Not Your Mother’s dry shampoo. So far it’s been great and I love that it’s unscented so I don’t give myself a headache throughout the day.

4. Plum Deluxe Tea

You may know that I am OBSESSED with David’s Tea, but I was sent some samples from Plum Deluxe this week and I’ve actually been drinking this over David’s (for right now). I’m disappointed in most teas and I can never find any that are strong enough, but I’ve been loving this as I write my posts this week. I’m not saying this is super strong (I still have to double the amount I use for this as well as David’s), but it’s got a robust flavor that doesn’t make me think I’m drinking flavored water.

I was sent two other flavors that I have yet to try: Pomme Blossom White Tea and Coconut Macaron Dessert Tea, so I’ll let you know how those are when I get to them! You can read more about Plum Deluxe, their monthly tea club (!), and all their flavors here.

5. Idea Lemon Podcast

I think this marks the 7th podcast I’ve done since starting this blog. WHEW. I also think this is my favorite podcast that I’ve done.

A lot of the ones I’ve done have been recovery-focused, which means that I go through my story and that’s about it. For Idea Lemon, I gave it as a background, but then we opened it up to much broader topics and how to overcome adversity. I got excited to share ideas and opinions given my own experience and the experiences of others. It’s good. Check it out.

You never had it on the east coast? It’s magical!

I wish I had a restaurants like you do. You would think living in Phoenix there would be so many options but everything is a chain unless you live downtown or in Scottsdale which in traffic is too far to drive. I guess I’ll just have to keep making my own food and be inspired by what you eat!

I’ve tried Not Your Mother’s beach-y waves spray, but not their dry shampoo. I am going to have to try it, since dry shampoo is crucial when teaching/training all day!

Not Your Mother’s is AWESOME! I use LUSH dry shampoo which is also great, but the one you have is SO easy to use and it doesn’t leave hair a sticky mess!
