Five Things Friday #104

It’s Friday!

I love how the weather has been lately. I can feel fall creeping in and I’M READY.

This weekend I have a few things on my agenda – teaching, eating, and socializing to be as vague as possible. I’ll recap everything in Monday’s post, so check back! I’ve felt a little overwhelmed this week to be honest and I think it’s because I’ve taken some new clients into my already nonsense schedule.

Since I’m traveling around throughout the day, I feel like I’ve been falling behind on emails and that stresses me out. I need like a good 4-5 hours to just answer everyone and do all the other little administrative things I need to do in my life. I LOVE operating on (mainly) my own schedule, but sometimes my type A brain is like “WHERE DID THE PLAN GO? WHAT’S ALL THIS LAST MINUTE ADJUSTING? EVERYTHING MUST BE DONE SYSTEMATICALLY.” Silly brain.

So enough about me — well there’s a little more to come — let me know in the comments what some of your favorite things are this week. Before you do that, here are mine!

1. I Heart Keenwah

So I had seen this brand a million times, but hadn’t actually tried it yet. I recently received some of their clusters and puffs in the mail and they are BANGIN. Well, to be fair, I’ve only had the chocolate sea salt clusters, but I polished that bag off in one sitting, so I’m just going to assume everything is wonderful. If you’ve had either the puffs or clusters before, tell me which flavor to try next!

2. My Sunshine Away

My sister lent me this book last weekend when I was in Maryland. I started it on the plane and finished it the next day. From Amazon:

In the summer of 1989, a Baton Rouge neighborhood best known for cookouts on sweltering summer afternoons, cauldrons of spicy crawfish, and passionate football fandom is rocked by a violent crime when fifteen-year-old Lindy Simpson—free spirit, track star, and belle of the block—is attacked late one evening near her home. As the dark side of this idyllic stretch of Southern suburbia is revealed, the close-knit neighborhood is irreversibly transformed.

I liked the way it was written and it was a quick read if anyone is in the mood for some mystery and coming-of-age.

3. The Monut

My friends over at XO Marshmallow just launched their Kickstarter campaign this week with a new creation — the monut. This “marshmallow donut” is designed to fit right on top of your mug full of hot chocolate, coffee, or whatever you want. I also prefer to eat it by itself. 🙂

You can also check out a picture of it in action on Instagram.

They already have a successful line of gourmet marshmallows that you can buy in their Etsy shop, but are looking to raise more funding in order to expand and grow the business with delicious marshmallows. If you’re interested in donating (and getting some sweet perks), you can find the link to their campaign here.

4. New Eat Healthy Designs Shirts

I’m so obsessed with this company. I now own 5 of their shirts, which is unheard of for me. I just can’t get over how soft they are and how much I laugh every time I read them. I’ve written about them before (here and here), but I just got these two bad boys in and have to include them again!

They also sell stationary if you don’t want messages all over your clothes. 🙂

5. Perfect Fit Meals

*this portion of the post is sponsored by Perfect Fit Meals, but they honestly were one of my favorite things this week.

With all the running around I do, I’m a big fan of quick meals. I was a little skeptical about Perfect Fit Meals when they approached me, but after checking out their ingredients and the fact that all the meals are designed by a dietitian, I figured I would give them a try. They’re quick, portion-controlled, and all tasted great. There were also limited ingredients and none that I didn’t understand.

I liked using the hash and enchilada as a topping to the loads of spaghetti squash I’m trying to use up. They’re super quick and I’d definitely grab some if I needed a quick dinner.

If you’re here in Chicago, you can find these at your local Jewel. To see if you can find them near you, check out their store locator.

That’s all I’ve got for this week — let me know what’s going on with you in the comments!

ALSO – big congrats to Jennifer for winning my 3 year giveaway! Thanks to everyone who entered and there will be another giveaway coming up soooooooon!

  1. I’m a new subscriber and I love the content you share here. I especially appreciate that I can read what you’ve blogged about straight from my email by way of the new post updates you share. I came across your site as I was researching tips on how to submit blog posts and articles to the Huffington Post. I enjoy writing in my spare time but I feel I need to sharpen my writing skills and the info you provide on your blog has given me much valuable insight on how to do so. I also blog. I don’t love how I’m marketing my messages to the public but I’m proud to be up and running and continually researching ways to become a more effective blogger. Thanks for practical blogging advice and for being an inspiration by showing everyone it does not matter where you’ve been but instead what’s important is how you allow your past to influence your present and guide you into a fruitful future! You rock for that!

  2. So the fact that you ate one whole bag of those Keenwah clusters must mean that they are really good; how did you get in contact with the company or how did you find them? Which flavor is your favorite? 🙂

    1. They sent them to me but I’ve seen them in some of the local stores around here. Check their store locator maybe! I liked the chocolate sea salt so far!
