Five Things Friday #132

This week flew by for me — probably because I was still on vacation for the first two days of it. Thankfully I also didn’t have an overwhelming number of training clients squeezed into three days like I normally do when I go on vacation, so this week has been perfect for me.

This weekend is a bit busy, but there’s still plenty of down time scheduled. Neil’s birthday is TODAY (!), but since we are both working I have some things planned for the weekend and even during next week. I plan to fit in a workout on Saturday and then hang out with him for the rest of the weekend. Perfect.

I have three weekends back to back of either travel or events towards the end of the month, so I’m taking these next two weekends to chill out as much as possible. Let’s start with checking out some of my favorite this week!

1. Q-Cups

I’m sure by now you know I live for any kind of kitchen hack that makes cooking faster. One of those hacks is this microwaveable quinoa from NOW Foods. Just like the oatmeal in a cup, you have a whole serving of quinoa ready in 5 minutes. I stocked up on the plain and southwest flavors, but there’s also a savory garlic and mushroom one as well. Do it.

2. The Corner Farmacy

Guys, I’m so ashamed at my local business knowledge here in Chicago. I’ve frequented plenty of food trucks, but had never seen this one until this week. Even though the sandwiches are priced at $7 and $13 for a half and full, respectively, I think they’re totally worth it. I got this full sandwich yesterday and probably could have gotten by on only half. Another cool thing is that you can mix and match sandwich halves if you want to try different kinds.

They also serve breakfast as well as lunch, which is different from exclusively lunch like other trucks in the city. To find out their schedule and read more about the business, check out their website.

3. Nike Power Essential Running Crops

I try not to buy pants brand new because my brain still doesn’t understand how expensive they are. When I saw someone in one of my classes wearing these last week, however, I knew I wanted them immediately. I love the color and the cut, so I went to the Nike store the next day. Unfortunately, they didn’t have them in stock, but I was able to order them in the store to be shipped to my house free of shipping charges.

Another thing that sold me is that they are only $55 as compared to the $1232457457 of most other athletic pants. If you’re in the market for a new pair, I’d definitely recommend.

4. Arizona

This is probably a given considering my first part of the week was spent there. I loved the sun and the dry heat and this was the perfect time of year to go. I want to say that I’d even like the summers there, but I might change my mind when my skin starts burning off.

If you’ve never been, it’s somewhere I’d definitely recommend. I liked the mix of hot days and cool evenings/mornings.

5. Neil

Whenever I can’t think of a complete five things for this post, I always ask Neil what I like this week. His answer is usuallyย “me,” so I’ve generally stopped asking him and figure it out on my own. ๐Ÿ™‚

This week he made the cut because today is his 30th birthday. I won’t be cheesy and talk about how awesome he is, but after everything we’ve been through I’m glad we made it to where we are today and there’s no one else I’d rather spend my time with. ๐Ÿ™‚

That’s all I’ve got guys — check back on Monday for the weekend recap and have an awesome weekend yourselves!

Happy Birthday to Neil! You two are so blessed to have each other. I can tell you both love each other a lot.

What was the temp like in Arizona? It looked and sounded like you had so much fun.

And those running crops also look really comfortable.

    Awww, happy birthday to Neil!
I’ve surprisingly never been to AZ (aside from walking across the Hover damn, which probably doesn’t count!). For someone who haaaates winter and loooooves heat, I obviously need to go.
