Weeks have been super weird for me for the past couple. It’s like Tuesday hits and I feel like the week is going so slow, then all of a sudden I feel like I’ve skipped Wednesday and it’s already Thursday. I’ve had that same consistent feeling for about three weeks now. I don’t know what that means and I don’t hate it; it’s just weird. Does that happen to anyone else?
Yesterday I took Donut to the vet for the first time and on top of a clean bill of health, I found out that she’s likely two months older than we thought due to the fact that she’s already lost all of her puppy teeth. That means instead of 5 months, she’s actually 7. SHE’S GROWING UP SO FAST. 🙂
This weekend I actually have a bunch of workouts planned (one as a competition and one as an event), but hopefully the rest of the weekend will be pretty low key. Let me know what you’re doing in the comments and make sure to check out what I’m loving this week!
1. Chicago Health Foods
If you’re in Chicago, there’s a place you need to go. There’s a health food store in Gold Coast called Chicago Health Foods and it has a TON of supplements, snacks, smoothies, bowls, etc.
I’ve known about this store for almost the entire time I’ve lived here, but I always forget about it because it’s in a location that’s off a main street and blends into the surroundings, making it easy to pass. I was invited to stop in earlier this week and kept asking myself why I don’t go more often. I got this black bean burger sandwich and a bunch of other treats to take home with me and I’m already looking for a time to get back. Now I just need to convince him to carry my beloved Honey Mama’s chocolate and it’ll be the perfect store. 🙂
If you’re in the city and want to stop in, they are offering a 20% discount on your entire purchase with the code ERINSINSIDEJOB (one time use only). Just tell them at the register and you’re good to go! I think it actually will work online as well if you aren’t in the area but want to check out their shop.
2. Arize Kombucha
One of the things I grabbed on my way out was a kombucha by a local Chicago company called Arize. How I didn’t know about this brand is beyond me, but they have it both in bottles and on tap in the store.
I didn’t know which flavor to get, so I picked the gray one because I liked the color and the palo santo flavor because I was confused as to how kombucha flavored with wood would taste. The answer is it tastes like palo santo. I’m interested in trying out some of the flavors soon!
3. Cusa Instant Tea
Guys — did you know that there’s make instant tea?? It’s like instant coffee, but for TEA. I had no idea until I got my monthly Sips By box and this Cusa tea was one of the samples. It’s a powdered tea that you mix with hot OR cold water depending on what you’re in the mood for.
I was doubtful, but I had it hot in the morning and it tasted just like English Breakfast tea. Highly recommend.
Sidenote: if you’re interested in your own monthly tea sample box from Sips By, use the code FORERIN for 50% off your first one!
4. Chesapeake Bay Focus + Patience Candle
I’m doing a sponsored post with Chesapeake Bay Candle company next week, so I’ve been trying out their different scents from the Mind & Body collection. One of them is a tobacco cedar scent (I almost wrote flavor), which is right up my alley. I’m not a huge fruit candle person, but anything smoky and musty gets two thumbs up. I’m hoping it lives up to its name and helps me with both my patience and my focus. 🙂
5. My Heritage DNA Kit
When My Heritage offered to send me one of their DNA kits, I jumped at the chance. I almost asked Neil for some type of ancestry kit for my birthday, but we nixed it when I decided I wanted the camera instead.
I’m always fascinated with family trees and DNA tests, so I’m really excited about the results. I sent it off this morning and it will be back in 4-6 weeks, so I’ll be sure to share it with you as soon as I get any info!
That’s all I’ve got for you guys this week — I hope you have a wonderful weekend and catch you on Monday!
