Happy Friday friends!
This is the last full week I have to work before leaving next Wednesday for ITALIA! That being said, I just wanted to give you a heads up that the next two weeks will be without a Five Things Friday post. You’ll still have your Mon and Wed posts, but I’m not bringing my laptop with me. If you’re interested, feel free to follow along on Instagram stories and if you have any recommendations for Rome, Florence, or Venice, feel free to pass them along!
To jump into this week’s post, here are some of the things I’ve been loving this week. I can’t believe I forgot to tell you about my new jeans which you can find at the bottom!
1. Mango at Trader Joe’s
THIS IS LIFE CHANGING.
So TJ’s already has a dried mango that is so addictive to me that I can’t buy it anymore. I will eat the entire bag in one sitting, which isn’t the best idea since it’s covered in sugar. BUT IT’S SO GOOD.
Anyway, they finally started offering dried mango (no sugar) and I’m so happy. I also love it this way, but before was only able to find it in the bulk section of Whole Foods. Now that they have a more affordable option at TJ’s, I’m going to be stocking up.
2. Hamptons Weekender by tarte
I have so much makeup stockpiled from high school and college days, but my makeup routine has become super minimal as I’ve gotten older. Whenever I wanted to add some color to my cheeks, I would dig through my basket, find a random bronzer, and slap some on.
Many of mine have reddish undertones which don’t go that well on my face and also don’t really work if I don’t have a little bit of color already. I went to Sephora in search of a more appropriate blush and found this one in the travel section by the checkout. There’s a peachy blush, bronzer, and highlighter that you can blend together or use on their own and I love the way my cheeks turn out when I use it. I was also happy that it was only $15 compared with the $50 compact they tried to sell me. 🙂
3. Larabar Cherry Chocolate Chip Bites
I was sent this bag of Larabar bites in the mail and I’m surprised it’s not already gone. I love cherry and chocolate together, and I make sure to grab a couple whenever I’m in the kitchen looking for a quick snack.
4. Leaf & Twig Fireside Evenings Tea
I got this tea in my monthly Sips By box and I was initially drawn in by the name. It’s a cinnamon and cardamom black tea and I love the little tin it comes in. This month’s box had a lot of good chai and spice options, so you may see another type on here too in the future as I work my way through them.
By the way, to learn more about my tea subscription, you can read about it here and also save 50% off your first box by using the code FORERIN. I’ve been getting them for about a year and still love them!
5. Madewell 10″ High Rise Skinny Jeans
I can’t tell you how difficult it is for me to find jeans. It’s been an ongoing problem for years and once I find a pair, I wear them until they’re shot.
My current issue is that since doing Crossfit and strength training, my already-muscular legs have gotten even bigger. I couldn’t find a pair that fit in the thighs and butt without being way too big in the waist. I’m also short, so there’s another variable to throw in there.
Many of you had recommended Madewell jeans, but I took my time getting into a store. When I visited my friend Jess in Charlottesville last month, we went jeans shopping and I could have kicked myself for not going sooner. The material is stretchy enough that they were able to fit both my lower body AND my waist. They were even comfortable enough to wear around the house (but not forever; let’s not get crazy).
For someone whose last well-fitting jeans purchase was in the juniors section in low-rise, buying these 10″ high-rise jeans was a bit of an adjustment. I really love them now that I’ve worn them on a few occasions and highly recommend them as an option if you have denim issues like me.
Bonus: if you bring in an old pair of jeans (any brand), you can get $20 off a new pair!
That’s all for this week guys! Check back on Monday for a new post!
