It’s been two months since we brought Donut home and I couldn’t be happier. I’ve been thinking about writing this post since I brought her home, but was originally going to wait until we had had her for around six months. There was no reason for this number; it just felt like a good benchmark to reflect on what she had added to our lives. In the short two months we’ve had her, however, I already feel like there are a ton of things I’ve either learned for the first time or have been reminded that I need to work… View Post

Feelings are hard for me to describe. I can come up with all kinds of visual representations of scenery or things you actually look at, but since identifying and owning feelings is such a relatively new ability of mine, it’s difficult to approach them with the same competence. My plan for this post was to start with a loose idea and see where it took me. I struggle with depression and anxiety, as do… View Post

I think it’s interesting how people in the social media space often speak about similar topics at similar times. Whether it’s because someone else brings it to light or a mention helps solidify another person’s opinion, I find that there’s a lot of overlap in what people postulate online. I have a running list of post topics that I add to as I think of something. Sometimes there are concrete ideas, but other times it’s a huge run on sentence with parentheses and question marks because I haven’t quite narrowed down what it is I’m trying to say.  This post was one… View Post

A couple weeks ago I got a massage. It was part of Neil’s birthday present and I didn’t think much of it aside from the fact that my body could certainly use one. As a personal trainer and someone who works out pretty aggressively, rest days and active recovery are something that need to be incorporated into my schedule. I’ve got the rest days down, but I don’t do much for active recovery. I know well enough that things like yoga, massage, and other forms of holistic treatment can sometimes elicit emotional responses as well. It’s why I don’t do… View Post
