Raining, Napping, and Cooking - Erin's Inside Job

Raining, Napping, and Cooking

Happy Monday friends!

I looked back on my pictures for this weekend and realized that I barely did anything at all. That is just fine with me, but leaves me with a less substantive post.  Friday I asked whether I should go for a shorter run or head to the gym, and the truth is that I did neither.  I did get in a short workout on Sunday afternoon, but it will remain a mystery until I can reveal it next week.

This week will be pretty busy as well as next weekend, so I’m glad that I was able to have some down time this weekend. Tomorrow I am doing a training on substance abuse in Maryland for a civilian group of the U.S. Army, so I am busy preparing for that. I also have to fulfill some almond and cashew butter orders by Wednesday and fit in a 10K this week as part of my training program, so there’s a lot going on.

In order to avoid fixating on that, I will reminisce on the weekend where I had nothing to do.

I had already done my 11 mile run last Thursday, so this was the first Saturday in awhile that I was able to sleep in. I woke up at 9 am and had a leisurely morning. Neil and I went to see Guardians of the Galaxy and were greeted by a torrential downpour when we emerged.  Look at this child fleeing for his life:

IMG_3640The rain made us even less likely to spend time in the outside world, so we got lunch at Chipotle, grabbed some groceries, and headed home.

We changed into dry clothes and ended up falling asleep for an epic 3 hour nap.  We hung out with some friends that night, and that’s all folks.

Sunday we met our friend Katy for brunch at Wicked Waffle in Montgomery Mall. I wrote about this place before when I got lunch there, but today I got egg white and grilled veggies on a gluten free waffle. It was delicious.

IMG_3644We walked around the mall and stopped at a new coffee place called Aroma.  It was a nice change from Starbucks, but I don’t know that it was drastically better.

Bath and Body Works has new fall candle scents out, but I was pretty disappointed with the selection. I love candles from B&BW, but I could barely find any new ones that I liked. They had a whole pumpkin section that smelled artificial and did not fill me with the joys of fall.

After the mall, we went to our mystery workout and then got home around 5 pm. I made some Indian chicken that almost burnt Neil’s mouth off, but in my defense he did say I could make it as spicy as I wanted.  I only had a small amount of this with brown rice so that I could save a lot of it for lunch this week.

Neil had pizza on the brain, so we also ended up ordering the worst pizza I have ever had. We ordered from Bertucci’s and my margherita pizza had super tart sauce, rubbery mozzarella, and NO BASIL. SACRILEGE. At least I had plenty of basil at home.  Seriously though, this pizza was awful.

After the disastrous pizza, we watched a movie and went to sleep. It was glorious.

Question of the day: What did you do this weekend? Do you prefer busy or low key weekends?

  1. That pizza does not look good… I saw Guardians of the Galaxy as well this weekend (but no rain)!

My favorite weekends are ones in which I am busy busy. I love to pack in day trips, workouts, cooking adventures, etc, all in 48 hours. It drives my husband crazy because as soon as Friday rolls around I’m super energetic.
