Five Things Friday #36
Happy Friday friends? Who’s ready for the weekend??
I picked up some extra classes today so that helps me fill up my day. I find that I am always busy Monday-Wednesday and then things start to taper off by the end of the week. If any of you are in Chicago and want to come take classes with me, sign up!
Before I head off to rock a playlist disproportionately Timbaland-centered (blame Empire), I want to leave you with some of my favorite things from this week.
1. Flipbelt
I had the opportunity to review Flipbelt (affiliate link) months and months ago through my ambassadorship with Sweat Pink, but I never signed up. Then I saw them popping up more and more and read some great reviews and began to kick myself. When one didn’t magically appear in my mailbox despite all of my earnest wishing, I bought it from Amazon. I have worn it once while running and once while strength training at the gym.
Since the temperatures have dropped again, I wore my jacket while running and didn’t need to rely on the Flipbelt as much since I had pockets. I see myself using it much more in the warmer months to hold my phone, keys, and credit card for those emergency donut stops on the way home. I was impressed with it’s ability to hold my iPhone 6 Plus since it is about the size of my head.
I also loved it while working with weights because I didn’t have the annoying problem of finding somewhere for my phone while bending over and standing back up. I used to just shove it in my pants. The material is stretchy yet extremely durable and I can’t wait to make more use of this in the future!
2. Steel Cut Oats
I shared this recipe with you guys earlier this week and I have still been eating them on the daily. It’s a super fast way to prepare 4 days of breakfast while sitting on the couch.
3. Teaching Classes
I have been able to teach a number of classes as a bonafide trainer at Sweat and I am really enjoying it! We are still working out a formal schedule and right now it is kind of all over the place, but I’m definitely having a good time with it.
4. Chasing Delicious Kitchen 101 Infographics
Neil actually referred me to this site and I was quickly overwhelmed by all of the information. There are very helpful infographics that explain basic things like measurement conversions to more specific information like how to roast coffee or how to use different oils like below. I haven’t had nearly enough time to go through it all, but the information is amazing!

I like this article this week because I wanted to write about how important it is to enjoy your exercise. The more you enjoy how you get your fitness on, the more likely you are to continue doing it! No, that is not me swimming and I specifically mention how I am not a fan of swimming anymore. Oh the irony.
That’s all I’ve got this week! Come take class with me at 4:30 or 5:30 today to kick off your weekend!!
Questions:
- What’s one of your favorite things this week?
- What’s your favorite type of exercise?
- Is it Spring where you are??
Those infographics are super helpful! I’ll bookmark that for sure for the future.
Right now my favorite way to exercise is, you guessed it, running! There’s something about springtime + running that just go hand in hand. Second in line is probably yoga sculpt. I love yoga + weights so combining the two is perfect for me.
It’s been a hot minute since I’ve been to Sweat so I’ll have to stop by soon!

I love running in the spring and fall. I still can’t force myself to do yoga idk what’s wrong w me!
I used to have a SPIbelt, but I always wanted a FlipBelt. I finally bought one last summer and I love it so much!!!! It’s great for running AND the gym. And I like how it doesn’t flop around like the SPIbelt does if you cram a lot of stuff in there.

I know it’s great! I’m looking forward to using it more whenever it finally warms up here
I love my flipbelt. I broke the #1 rule of racing last year and bought it right before my 1st half marathon. Luckily I LOVED it and have never had a problem with it.
This week, my favorite thing is having an extra day off from work. I feel so free!
My favorite exercise is running. I don’t really like anything else, but I do cross-train and strength train because I know it’s good for my running.
Spring is here for a minute then it’s gone again. But that’s the weather in New England…if you don’t like it, wait 5 minutes!
The same thing happened here in Chicago. It was in the 50s and 60s then snowed on Monday. Looks like next week should warm up some though. Enjoy your extra day off!
I would come but I’m running in the ridiculous weather tomorrow morning. But I love taking your classes! And I love your Timba playlist. When “The Way I Are” came on I lost my mind 😀

My all time favorite exercise if swimming! Any time of year!!
I used to be on the swim team, but I realized I really only like splashing around like a fool for fun and not competition 🙂
