Fourth of July Weekend + New Hosting
Oh man you guys. Not only was this holiday weekend spent in some pretty boring ways, but I barely have pictures to document it. I’m also recapping on a Tuesday instead of Monday, but there’s a good reason for that.
There also aren’t any pictures of real people, so you’ll just have to take my word for it that I did these things.
Friday
Neil didn’t have to work, so I also used that time to relax. I did have some training/teaching work to do, but it only took up about an hour and a half of my day. Neil, Matt and I headed up towards Wrigley Field for dinner because Neil actually found NY style pizza and his whole world was better. He has been searching for it since we moved here and found it at Dimo’s Pizza. The only problem is that they are too far away to deliver.
We all got a plain cheese slice, but I took a picture of this mac and cheese pizza because OMG.
Since we were apparently on a food tour, we meandered some more until we came to Bites Tapas. Then we ordered all the food and finished it off with fried cookie dough chopsticks.
Saturday
Neil and explored Andersonville, which is about a 30 minute train ride north of us. We had a phenomenal breakfast at m.henry where Neil had a fried egg sandwich and I had their mango blueberry blisscakes which were incredible.
We wandered north until we found an awesome nursery with 235165871 different plants.
A koi pond
And SO MANY TYPES OF BASIL.
After frolicking in contained nature, we headed to The Coffee Studio and sat/talked for a long time over some delicious espresso.
We explored some more and grabbed lunch, but then headed home early because we were hot and cranky. We also wanted to beat the madness of Fourth of July festivities. When Navy Pier is trending on Twitter and is expected to draw 125K people, we hide inside.
That is, until gelato called my name.
I hope you guys had a great Fourth!
Sunday
Sunday I woke up and headed to the building gym to do my friend Andrea’s workout that I saw on IG. It was great.
Then I was super productive around the house: laundry, cleaning for company next week, remembering to shower, making almond butter, etc.
Matt came over and I roped him into helping me change hosting from GoDaddy to Bluehost. Neil and him spent most of the afternoon making sure things went smoothly and I can’t tell you how grateful I am for both of them. I even attempted to sit and watch what was happening so that I could understand but soon I gave up and just made them lots of food to show my appreciation.
Hopefully everything is working fine and there are no hiccups, but bear with me in the event that anything crazy happens with this site. Since the migration took most of the day, I wasn’t able to get Monday’s post written and so voila! Here we are on Tuesday.
This week is super busy for me as I have some new job opportunities lined up and meetings galore, but I’ll see you all again tomorrow! Wish me luck!
Questions:
- What did you do for the holiday weekend?
- Did you watch fireworks?
- What was the last workout you did?
My weekend (as good as it was) is jealous of your weekend. And my stomach and diet for today is jealous of your food, but then it is also jealous of any and all food.

But now food is back in your life and there can be joy again
I LOVE Dimo’s. I haven’t been in so long, but I’ve never been disappointed by their pizza. I might have to make that a priority some time this week!

It was great! I just wish that it wasn’t so far away (and that I had gotten that mac n cheese one!)
Wow that workout looks fun! We went out of town and did too many things to remember, thank goodness for pictures lol

I hate when I forget to take pictures and then it’s like I did nothing at all haha
Good luck this week with job stuff! Last workout I did was an easy run – hopefully get a good tempo run in tonight with RunClub! The 4th was crazy relaxing and I got to watch fireworks on the beach 🙂 Nothing better! Hope you have a fabulous week!

Same to you! Your Fourth sounds like a great time 🙂
NY style pizza is my faaaaavorite, and no one can convince me otherwise! And mac and cheese on a pizza sounds glorious. Every time I go to Whole Foods hot bar I can’t NOT grab some of their mac and cheese.
Oh, how I’d love to go on a food tour in a big city. Can I join you guys one day? 😛
Ooo do tell about the job opportunities, unless it’s top secret!! Good luck!!

You absolutely can join in. Come visit! Ha I just had some auditions to add some classes to my schedule and I think they went well!
I spent the fourth with my family and it was a blast. We watched fireworks in a small town, North of Orlando. It was very cute! I would LOVE a slice of NY style pizza. I haven’t had a good slice since I left the Northeast 🙁

Come visit! You can have the best of both worlds…deep dish and NY!
Ooh, good luck with these mysterious opportunities. 😉 Hope they work out for you! And congratulations on getting with a new host! It’s always so scary to migrate over. I had my current hosting company move me over from GoDaddy and was so glad they handled everything so I didn’t have to worry about it. Hope you’re having a great Tuesday! 🙂

I would definitely have to go that route if I didn’t have fancy tech people in my life I’m so thankful for that!
