Five Things Friday #54
Let’s keep this short and sweet and hop right into Five Things Friday!
1. My Haircut
I am terrible about getting my hair cut. This time around it had been about 7 months and I had had enough. It was way too long and way too broken, so I headed to Goran Coban Salon to get fancy. I always know how amazing my hair feels after I get it cut, but for some reason that’s never motivating enough for me to actually do it regularly. I just think “nah…these tangled split ends look good on you.”
2. New Phone Case
I have never had problems dropping my phone until I upgraded to the iPhone 6 Plus. I think that the weight of the phone plus the way my old case fit caused it to slip out of my fingers when I picked it up from a flat surface. I tried improving my tensile strength to no avail and dropped it a number of times, causing the case to break to the point where I was holding it together with tape. Finally I decided to get a new one, but since I wasn’t impressed with any of the other sparkly ones I found, I went for a throwback to an old love of mine: Zelda.
If you are a video game/cartoon/movie nerd like I am, check these guys out on Etsy. My case is far superior and about 4 times cheaper than my previous one.
3. Finding Faces in Things
Remember last week when I said that I was able to find faces in inanimate objects? Look who came to say hello while making my morning almond butter and toast.
I’ve been wanting to watch this documentary since I heard about it coming to Netflix. I finally watched it last night and it was so well done. Tig Notaro is a stand up comedian who, among her many talents and accomplishments, gave a legendary stand up performance after a medical hospitalization, losing her mother, and being diagnosed with cancer all within a matter of months. Her story is courageous and I love when people are able to find the positive (or the humor) in such a way to give back to so many other people.
Here is the trailer and I highly recommend it:
5. You Guys
This may seem like a cop out, but I realized that I haven’t thanked you all in a little while and when thinking of one more thing for this post, that was what came to mind. This year has been difficult for me in a lot of ways, but I have always found solace in coming here and being able to share with you and have you share back. This blog has kept me accountable and has given me a reason to show up when maybe I don’t want to.
I am behind on answering comments, but I promise I will and each and every one is so important to me. Thank you so much for taking time out of your day to read what little ol’ me has to say and I hope I can give back to you as much as you have given to me.
Alright, enough with the sap. Make sure you guys check back on Monday since this weekend Erin’s Inside Job is turning 2! Who knows what presents there will be?!
I hope you all have a great weekend and wish me luck as I run another half marathon underprepared and overheated. As always, you can check my Instagram to make sure that I’ve survived.
- What’s one of your favorite things this week?
- Do you think I will ever go into a race prepared? At this point I may just own it as my identity.
