Strange and Scones Weekend
This weekend contained almost a whole day of sleeping and our first significant snow here in Chicago! Thankfully it didn’t really stick, but it snowed all day long. Time to break out the boots.
Saturday Neil and I slept in until 9 am which is pretty late for us. We had planned to go to the matinee showing of Dr. Strange, so we had to get up and ready in order to be the first ones in the theater to claim our seats (since 10 am is SO busy 🙂 ).
I loved it. I also love Benedict Cumberbatch so I probably would have liked it regardless. It made me want to go home and rewatch all of Sherlock in preparation for the new season starting next month!
We stopped at Whole Foods on the way home to grab some lunch and groceries, then headed home where we proceeded to sleep on the couch until it was almost dark out. I don’t know where the day went, but I don’t hate that I spent most of it sleeping.
We finished the night by watching movies of course — first, Lights Out, then Finding Dory to get away from the suspense, and we finished up with Chronicle, which I hadn’t seen. Very Cloverfield-esque. I dug it.
I also did some damage on the Bath & Body Works site since they extended their $8.50 candle sale until Sunday morning. That way I didn’t have to go to the store and have a panic attack from all the people. 🙂
Sunday I woke up on a baking mission.
I still hadn’t made anything pumpkin and decided I needed to change that. I’ve always loved looking at Ashley’s scones, so I decided to make her pumpkin ones and threw some chocolate chips in, because chocolate.
I made some chicken for lunch using random spice assortments I had from Trader Joe’s. I used to make chicken ALL THE TIME, but hadn’t in awhile. It was delicious as always.
My third exploit was to make some pumpkin muffins from Simple Mills. I tossed in some cranberries as well and ate two immediately. I think 95% of my meals yesterday were carbs.
As I usually do on Sundays, I wrote training plans and did some blog work while Neil was sucked into football world all day long. Again, it was a lazy, somewhat productive weekend and I loved every second of it.
Let me know how your weekend went!
