Five Things Friday #126

Happy Friday!

I’m coming at you from back on the East coast — Maryland to be exact. I’m here for the 2017 IDEA Personal Trainer Institute East where I’ll be sitting through days of sessions learning about fitness and getting continuing education credits to renew my personal training certification.

The conference center is actually pretty close to where I used to live while I was in pharmacy school, so it’s been cool to be back in the area. I’ll reconnect with Neil, his parents, and my mom this weekend after my last session.

While I’m in sessions all day, you can read about some of my favorite things from this week!

1. Puppies Make Me Happy

I shared about this company on my Instastories last week, and then immediately bought this shirt. It’s a site with apparel about puppies as you may be able to imagine.

There’s tons of cute shirts and this one combines my two favorite things, so it was meant to be!

2. NOW Plant Protein Complex

I’ve been having a lot of post-workout smoothies since starting this challenge and one of my favorite protein powders is this one from NOW Foods. Of course I threw away the container before I took the picture, but I used the last of it this week.

My stomach doesn’t do too well with whey protein, so I usually stick with plant based ones. I like this one because a) it’s delicious and b) it’s a combination of multiple plant sources, making it a complete protein to have after my workouts.

3. Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts

A friend of mine demanded that I read this book immediately and although I purchased it that quickly, it’s taken me a bit longer to start reading it. I have a thing about starting a book when I’m still finishing another, but it’s taking me FOREVER to finish up The Brothers Karamazov. I think I need another Dominican vacation so I can have more time.

I’m not very far into it, but I’m liking it so far and look forward to finding some time to read this weekend hopefully.

4. Lifeway Farmer Cheese

I had never heard of farmer cheese before Lifeway sent me some, but apparently it’s a thing. A thing I’m loving this week.

The best way I can describe it is a slightly drier, more dense version of cottage cheese. I’ve had all three flavors (including unflavored) and they’re all delicious. They’re packed with protein, 99% lactose free, and super filling. I even found a bigger container when I went to the Whole Foods here in MD yesterday. I bought it.

5. Jess

I’m rooming with my friend Jess this weekend and I’m PUMPED. I haven’t seen her since last summer at Blogfest, although we still keep in touch throughout the year. She’s actually the reason I came out here and I’m really glad to be able to reconnect with her. Blogging has brought so many wonderful people into my life and I’m so grateful for it.

I also want to wish my mom a very happy birthday today! I’m glad this trip worked out and I’ll have a chance to see her tomorrow!

  1. Yayy im so jelly you and Jess get to hang out! Hope you have an awesome time at the conference. PS i’ve been meaning to read Shantaram, still haven’t got around to it…
    Not even kidding the last time i went on vacation I read Jane Eyre, LOL, TEQUILA AND JANE EYRE, DON’T GET TOO CRAZY CHENG.
