Five Things Friday #133
Happy Friday friends!
This week was a weird combo of feeling like it was going quickly and then by the end feeling like it was dragging along. I’m happy it’s Friday and I have one more low key weekend before the next three are busy. I have friends coming to visit starting on Thursday which I’m SUPER pumped about, so stay tuned to follow along on our city adventures!
This weekend I’m heading to a Pilates class which I haven’t done in a LONG time, then seeing the new Fast & Furious movie with Neil on Sunday. It’s a crazy time over here. To kick it off, here are some of my favorite things from this week!
1. Sweetgreen’s Spring Menu
Ok, this is a slight exaggeration. I really only like one of their seasonal salads — the Beets Don’t Kale My Vibe. It doesn’t normally come with radishes, but I swapped the goat cheese for them the other day when I got it. It’s similar to my beloved Harvest Bowl, which thankfully is a staple year round on the menu. To check out the seasonal salads in your area, head to their website.
I really love fall and winter menu items, probably because they use so much squash and sweet potato. They’re also warm which I love. Once spring veggies start popping up, I’m not as excited. Does this happen to anyone else? BRING ON THE SWEET POTATO.
2. The Handmaid’s Tale
If my friend Tayler is reading this, she will probably be disappointed in the fact that she bought me this book but I’ve only now started to read it. Every time Neil and I go to the movies they show previews for the new show based on this book and it looks really intriguing, so of course I want to read the book first.
This has been on my shelf for over a year (maybe two?), but I’m finally getting to it. Whoops. Have you read it?
3. New Farmer Cheese Flavors
This flavor isn’t new objectively, but new to me. The store near me only sells the organic flavors, which don’t include this black cherry one. My favorite is still the peach, but I liked having a new flavor to add into the rotation now and then.
4. Fine & Raw Chocolate
My friend Brooke gave me this the other night as we had a food swap and she let me accost her dog and hold him like a baby. I love fancy, delicious chocolate (thanks chocolate tour for ruining me), and this one is delicious. I haven’t seen it at any stores around here and she bought it online, but if you have it near you you should definitely try it out!
5. S-Town Podcast
Fine. I listened to the S-Town podcast because I was hearing so many people talk about it. I’m not even a big fan of podcasts and find it really hard to pay attention to them unless I have nothing else going on around me (same with books on tape). Since I walk around the city so much to get to clients, I figured I would try it out.
There are only seven episodes and what starts out as something of a murder mystery turns into more of a character study and what my friend Rebecca referred to as a “Southern gothic.” I found it really interesting and found myself tearing up at certain times during the series. I’d definitely give it a try — do at least two episodes before giving up on it.
That’s all I’ve got for you guys this week — I hope you have a wonderful weekend and I’ll see you on Monday!
Everyone is raving about S Town. Apparently, I gotta get on that train (and ride it)

I’m always on the look for new podcasts, so I’ve just added S Town to my iTunes. Thanks for the suggestion!

I love fancy chocolate too; it’s fun to pick out a new bar at the store to try out; I’ve never seen that one.
Also, FARMER CHEESE; some day I will find this delicious stuff and try it.

I want to try Sweet Greens!!! Why aren’t they in Phoenix?
Sweetgreen is life. Definitely more in love with their fall bowls for sure but I can make my own and love it equally. As for S-Town, I included it on my Friday Faves too. Totally thought it was going to be all about murder but it ended up being really interesting still – makes me realize I need to get out of my little city bubble.

Ahh S Town. Just finished it yesterday and in a podcast coma. Fascinating, and a bit great breaking too.
The Handmaid’s Tale is on my list!!

I read the Handmaid’s Tale a couple years ago. Great read, although a bit depressing. Can’t wait for the show! I love Elizabeth Moss! I wonder if they’ll stick to the book or take some liberties and extend the story?
