Five Things Friday #223

Happy Friday!

I'm so happy to be able to get back to my Friday posts and share things with you all. With having a baby, then keeping baby alive, then not being able to think of anything to share aside from baby-specific products, I just decided to take a little hiatus until I was able to get back to me again. I will likely write a baby-specific post in the future with all the products that made life easier and that I'd recommend to others, but I didn't want this post to focus solely on that.

Life has been good. Miles is an amazing little creature and even when I'm happy that the crying has stopped and he has fallen asleep, I find myself missing him until he wakes up again. We are learning things as we go and tomorrow he will be a whole month old. Time sure does fly.

Without further ado, here are some of the things I've been loving lately. 🙂

1. Baked Clean protein bars

I saw this brand on Instagram and reached out to see about trying them because -- hello -- chocolate and cookie dough.

The packaging is unassuming and I wasn't really sure what to expect, but these are seriously delicious. I can't decide which one I like more, but I think it may be the cookie dough. The ingredients are clean and simple and they're surprisingly filling for not being huge bars.

I kept mine in the refrigerator which helped cut down on some of the stickiness, but either way they are really good. If you're interested in trying some yourself, you can use the code ERINSINSIDEJOB to save 20% on your first order. I'm definitely going to have to order some more because they're almost gone.

2. Body Over Mind Apparel

My friend Nicole (@thehungryclementine) was one of the speakers in my Mental Health Summit last month and not only does she have a wonderful outlook on food in general (she's an RD), she has an equally wonderful clothing line that promotes a healthy relationship with it.

I bought this same shirt for myself, but once I saw there was a onesie option, I knew I needed that as well. She has a variety of colors and styles AND everything is 25% off for Memorial Day using the code BOMASUMMER25 at checkout. Make sure to check out all the options and I can tell you firsthand that the muscle tank I got for myself is SO SOFT.

3. Perfect Kids snack bars

I love Perfect Bars, but I usually feel that a whole one is way too filling for a snack. Then I'm torn between being stuffed on Perfect Bars or making it a meal by adding something else along with it.

Recently, they came out with a kids-sized bar which is way more my speed. They also come in two amazing flavors, so I bought both of them when I was at Target the other day. They're the perfect size for a snack and I'm so glad they're now an option!

4. Otamot tomato sauce

I was contacted by Otamot on Instagram and agreed to try their tomato sauce once I saw the ingredients. I am notoriously bad at eating vegetables, so when I saw that this wasn't your regular tomato sauce and also contained a ton of veggies (see the label), I was intrigued.

I tried it the other night with ravioli (mmm) and both Neil and I really liked it. It's a little more tart than regular tomato sauce, but the taste is still really good. It's also thicker and not as runny as the fancy Prego and Ragu sauces that I get, which I liked because I didn't feel like I wasted as much sauce.

If you're trying to incorporate more vegetables into your diet, this is definitely a good option and it makes me feel like I'm eating a much healthier tomato sauce.

It looks like right now it's only physically available in the NY area, but you can also order it online if you're somewhere else!

5. Drinking: A Love Story by Caroline Knapp

I started this memoir before having Miles and only recently was able to finish it. It's the story of Knapp's relationship with alcohol, her eventual decision to stop drinking, and everything in between.

I really liked how it was written and highly recommend it if you're in the mood for something similar. It was a quick read (if you don't have a baby in between) and a good look into the world of women and alcoholism.

If you've been reading for awhile, you know I've been working my way through different addiction memoirs. I love that each one is written a little bit differently so that I don't feel like I'm reading a chronological depiction of someone's life from beginning to end. Definitely check this one out.

That's all for this week friends! I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
