Five Things Friday #227

Happy Friday!

I'm so glad to get back to a new post after a couple weeks. I'm honestly still having my writer's block problem, so I'm taking time to get outside and walk while we have our 100 days of summer here in Chicago. I'm listening to tons of podcasts (a sentence I never thought I would utter) and it's really helping me learn and think about so many different things. Sadly, it hasn't inspired a ton of writing, but I know it'll be back soon enough.

Since it's been a little while, I can definitely fill up today's post with things I've been loving. Make sure to let me know some of yours in the comments and if you have any topic ideas, send those along as well!

1. Miles' Heart

You may remember that I had to have a series of fetal echos when I was in my third trimester because at my 36 week ultrasound they noticed that his heart was slightly enlarged on the right side. After he was born, they did one and noticed it was still enlarged, which was to be expected since not much had changed and he had JUST come out. We had a follow up with him a couple weeks later where they told us to schedule ANOTHER follow up after a couple months so that his heart had time to reshape appropriately now that he was outside the womb and on his own.

We had that appointment this week and thankfully his heart looks fine. He was so well behaved during the 50 minute scan and even fell asleep towards the end of it. So one of my favorite things this week is definitely that his little heart is nice and strong. ๐Ÿ™‚

2. Trader Joe's Peach Bellini Jam

Trader Joe's and I are in a bit of a fight right now since they decided to discontinue the British muffins that I've been eating EVERY DAY for at least two years now. Although we aren't really on speaking terms right now, I will say that their peach bellini jam is really good on the inferior English muffins that I now have to eat for breakfast.

My mom used to make peach jam at home every year and it was so amazingly good. I once bought a peach jam by Smuckers and it was nowhere near as delicious, so I actually ended up throwing it out. Surprisingly, this one is the closest I've come to homemade and that's saying something!

3. Warby Parker

I not-so-conveniently left my reading glasses in New Jersey last week while we were there for a wedding. I decided to get this pair from Warby Parker to save some money since this is now the second pair that has needed to be replaced (Donut ate the first). I normally go to SEE for my glasses, but didn't feel like I could swing it financially this time. For $95, these feel a little cheaper than the ones from SEE, but they're working fine and I won't feel as bad if I lose them.

4. Amazon exercise tops

A friend at the gym was wearing one of these and I loved the way it looked so I asked her where it was from. Surprisingly, she told me that it was from Amazon for less than $15. I checked them out online and now own four because I love them so much.

You can buy them in packs of three (there are a bunch of different color combinations) or you can just get one at a time from this other link. That's how I bought my green one to try out before committing to a three pack because I wasn't sure about sizing (for reference I got a S and like how it's a little looser).

5. Schitt's Creek

I know I'm behind on this, but Neil and I have been watching Schitt's Creek and LOVING it. It's the story of a wealthy family who ends up losing their money and being left with only the deed to a town called Schitt's Creek that the father bought for his son as a joke. They have to move to the town and start a new life there and it's a show that has me laughing out loud all the time.

I also didn't realize until stalking the show online that the father and son are actually real life father and son (Eugene and Daniel Levy) and that the girl who plays Twyla (the waitress) is also his daughter in real life. I've been watching You Tube videos of bloopers and other interviews because I love all the characters. Definitely recommend!

That's all for this week friends! I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
