Five Things Friday #230

Happy Friday!

Can you believe it's August already? This time last year is when I got pregnant with Miles which is just CRAZY to me. Now I have a little three month old creature wiggling around. So nuts.

This week has been a lot of running errands, blog work, and Starbucks vanilla sweet cream cold brews. The weather has been absolutely perfect and I'm trying to enjoy it as long as I can. There are no concrete plans for the weekend, so I'm hoping to just eat, walk, and nap frequently. Really the best of everything.

To kick it off, here are the things I'm loving this week. πŸ™‚

1. New phone case

Last weekend my phone was stolen out of the stroller. To be fair, I was keeping it in a phone pocket that was easily accessible by people walking by, but it was still a blow to my ego and my wallet.

I previously had an iPhone X and this time went for an iPhone Xs, which meant I needed to get a new case. My old one was also by Case Station, but had one of my donut pictures on it. This time I went with a picture I had taken of cookies and I am equally happy with it.

Case Station has made all of my custom phone cases and the quality is great as well as the shipping speed!

2. Butter dish

This probably isn't super exciting, but only recently did it occur to me to leave my butter out so that it's always soft for my English muffins in the morning. I was just leaving a partially wrapped stick of butter on the counter, which I realized wasn't the classiest or most sanitary, so I grabbed a butter dish at Marshall's and now my soft butter is securely housed on the counter.

3. Bay's English Muffins

You may or may not be aware that Trader Joe's discontinued my favorite English muffins and I was left high and dry. (I may add that this is a very common occurrence for me -- the list of things I've loved that have been discontinued is extensive).

After many recommendations on Instagram, I tried out a variety of brands and settled on Bay's -- both the regular and the sourdough versions. They aren't the same as the Trader Joe's ones, BUT they will have to do. What I like, and sorry for the lack of a cross-section photo, is that there are many nooks, but no sharp edges that cut your mouth like Thomas's. This way you can bite into delicious pools of butter without the pain.

My one gripe is that they are supposed to be kept in the refrigerator, but come in a package that's not resealable. Within a day or two, the muffins feel hard, but I guess when toasted they soften up. ANYWAY - these are in my new daily rotation.

4. New baking sheets + roasted broccoli

The Bed Bath and Beyond near us is closing, so I headed over to buy some new baking sheets. I got ones by Wilton and they are amazing because a) they have the edge around them (my other one didn't) and 2) they are HUGE.

I was able to roast all our broccoli at once -- something I've been eating a lot of for some reason -- in 15 minutes and it was amazing. I also forget that we have two ovens, so this meal prep step is a big game changer.

5. Baby Merlin's Magic Sleepsuit

I try to keep baby-related products out of these Friday posts, but I figured I would add this one in this week.

Since Miles is starting to bust out of his swaddle at night (or at least trying to), I decided to start transitioning him out of it. Based on a MILLION reviews and a recommendation from a friend, I ordered this Magic Sleepsuit. It looks absurd, but it's supposed to create a cozy environment for your baby that helps soothe them to sleep. I've only had it two days, but it's helped a lot with lengthening his naps.

He's slightly too small for it, so I've had to roll up the legs to prevent him from pulling them back up into the suit. He woke himself up doing that the first night, but as he gets used to it and also grows a bit more, it should help a lot. Will report back!

Tip: It can get hot, so the company recommends only dressing them in a diaper or a light cotton onesie for sleep.

That's all for this week friends! I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
