Five Things Friday #240

Happy Friday!

Guys, I am sleepy. Just wanted to lead with that. I don't know if it's because the temperatures are dropping and some of that familiar grey sky coloring is creeping back in or if I've worked out too many days this week or what, but I've been riding the struggle bus a bit this week. I also opened up about my recent mental health diagnosis and spent a lot of time talking with people online about it and realizing that so many more people struggle with similar things than I realized that I think my brain just needs a bit of a break. Luckily, there's not much on the agenda this weekend, so I'll likely spend it napping, cuddling a baby, and just relaxing with the family.

I hope you all have had a wonderful week. Big kudos to everyone running the Chicago Marathon this weekend; I will be doing the complete opposite but I admire your dedication. 🙂

Here are the things that I'm loving this week!

1. Ring Sling by Darling Mama

I wanted to get a ring sling for awhile now because I wanted a quick option to carry Miles around the house. We also have the Ergobaby Omni 360 carrier which is LEGIT, but it feels almost too bulky and stiff to wear for quick trips.

I looked into getting a sling and quickly realized that many of the more popular companies were charging over $100 for a piece of fabric which didn't really make sense to me. I looked through Instagram to find other companies who made slings and stumbled across Darling Mama. I loved the aesthetic and all the neutral options, plus the cost was much more reasonable. I quickly bought one and it's been so great around the house and for taking Donut on walks with a baby in tow.

I reached out and they're offering a $10 discount to anyone who purchases with the code RINGSLING10. Highly recommend!

2. Pumpkin Pie Perfect Bar

It's that time again. Perfect Bar released their seasonal pumpkin pie flavor which I picked up from my local Trader Joe's this week. I'm actually eating it as we speak because I forgot that I bought it until I went to write this post. Donut is waiting patiently beside me so that she can also help me eat it when I'm at the last bite.

If you like pumpkin pie, definitely grab one!

3. Vegan Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Muffins from Fit Mitten Kitchen

I made a stop in Grand Rapids last week after camping to meet up with my friend Ashley who runs a wonderfully successful food blog (Fit Mitten Kitchen). I had demanded that she bring me some of the muffins I had seen on her Instastories and THEY DID NOT DISAPPOINT.

They were flavorful, moist, and I inhaled them on the drive home. The recipe wasn't up then, but it is now, so you need to make them. Bonus is that they are vegan, which it's a must for me, but might be for some of you. MAKE THESE.

4. EW's Binge - Schitt's Creek

You guys know my love for Schitt's Creek and if you share it, then you're going to have to listen to EW's Binge podcast with Dan Levy. There will be five episodes (they're not all out yet) and each one is a deep dive into each season of the show. CAN'T GET ENOUGH.

5. Mental Health Awareness Week

You guys know how important I think mental health is, and this week is Mental Health Awareness Week. It wraps up tomorrow, but I just wanted to take some time to emphasize how important it is that we take care of our mental health and work to destigmatize it so that everyone can hopefully get the help that they need.

Even if you don't struggle with any specific diagnoses, it's still important to take care of your headspace. Pay attention to your feelings and your behaviors. Reach out to people you know just to simply talk and ask how they are doing. Respond honestly when someone asks you the same thing. The more we learn to talk about these things, the less scary they will be for us and others.

That's all for this week friends! I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
