Five Things Friday #247

Happy Friday!

How was your week? Mine has ended up on a pretty good note because I feel like I have finally figured out a gym solution. You may have seen in Wednesday's post that I had to stop bringing Miles to the early morning classes with me because he no longer wanted to just sit and relax in his car seat. Thankfully, I have access to the gym during times in the morning when there are no classes, so I started bringing him then, but he would scream for the last 15 or so minutes in the portable jumper I bought him. After some experimenting, I realized that he just wanted a change of scenery, so he spends the first half of the workout in the jumper and then I move him onto a play mat for the second half with some toys. He's been really well behaved since I tried that approach, which makes working out much more peaceful for moi.

That's the only real development this week, but it's a big one for my peace of mind after I found myself struggling a bit with the change in routine. I hope you all had a great week and here's what I'm loving!

1. Christmas Sheets

I was reading Julie's blog a few weeks ago and she mentioned that when she was growing up her parents always put Christmas sheets on her bed for the month of December. I thought that was a really cute idea, so I went in search of Christmas crib sheets for Miles.

I searched ALL OVER the internet and found a ton of super cheesy sheets, none of which I wanted. I turned to my good friend Etsy because I can always find unique things on there and that's where I found these sheets by Bianca at the Petit Clementine Baby Boutique. They're such a great pattern and they're also nice and thick which is great for winter.

Obviously, at this stage it's more for me than him, but I love the ones I got and it's a tradition I want to keep going as he gets older.

2. Shredded Chicken Hack

I did a video on Instagram not too long ago where I showed how I prep a large amount of food to have leftovers for the week. I was shredding chicken breasts with two forks as I've always done, but I got several messages telling me that the best way to do it is with a hand mixer.

I was skeptical at first, but figured I would give it a shot the next time and OMG. I shredded two chicken breasts in 30 seconds. It was LIFE CHANGING and I don't think I'll ever go back to the fork method again. If you haven't tried it, you need to ASAP.

3. Wildbird Ring Slings

I bought myself another ring sling carrier when I saw that Wildbird was having a sale. They're pretty expensive in my opinion, so I waited until Black Friday rolled around and grabbed myself this olive green one. I love their packaging and the fabric is really durable, so I highly recommend them if you're in the market for a way to keep your baby nice and close.

4. Tempo Pro Massage Gun

I also shared about this in my fitness gift guide for moms, but I'm mentioning it here again because it's quickly become an everyday recovery tool in our home.

I was already planning on buying one for Neil for Christmas because his legs are always SUPER tight. He consistently rolls them, but he needed something more intense to really help break up the tight spots. Since we don't have an unlimited massage budget, I knew this would help a lot. Tempo Health reached out to me literally a day before I was going to buy one and offered to let us try it out.

It's so amazing and really helps after tough workouts. There are four different head attachments for different purposes and different vibration intensities as well. What I really love is the price tag though because many other brands can be as much as $500 and above.

This would really make a great gift this season if you know anyone who could benefit. If interested, you can also order from this link or use the code ERINBAHADUR to get 15% off as well!

5. Cinna-Snap Nail Color by Sally Hansen

I've shared about this brand of nail polish before because I think that the Insta-Dri line from Sally Hansen has the best brush of any nail polish ever, but now I have a new shade that I love this season.

I was looking for a red that wasn't RED and also wasn't so dark burgundy that you couldn't tell it was still red and I found this one. I love it so much that I may just paint my nails the same color once it starts to chip which is a big deal. Definitely recommend.

That's all for this week friends! I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

  1. Love the Christmas sheet idea & carrying it through as he gets older…wish I’d thought of that when my kids were little people. I have a set of Spode Christmas dishes – chose them because all of the others were too cheesy as well lol – & I switch out my everyday dishes for the Spode from the day after Thanksgiving through New Year’s Day. My other traditions, & I have too many to count, for Christmas is how I do stockings. There are certain items I put in my kid’s stockings every year, but my favorite is an ornament. I’ve given an ornament, chosen especially for each kid, every year since each of my 3 were born. My oldest is 25 & he bought his first house this year. I packed up all of his ornaments from the first, a silver cradle engraved w/ his name & “First Christmas, to the most recent I had given him. I purchased a special ornament storage box since there were 24 to pack up, & gave it to him & his live-in girlfriend for their first tree together in the new home. I plan to do the same for the other two once they settle down & have their own space. I’m hopeful my kids will continue many of the traditions I started. I have a feeling that if you do the sheet thing every year, Miles will connect that to happy memories of the holiday growing-up, & that he’ll hopefully continue the tradition w/ his own kids in the future. 🙂
