Five Things Friday #256
Good news for me this week is that my knee may finally be on the mend. After visiting my friend who is a physical therapist, we determined that the original knee that suffered from pain still needs some work. I thought that knee was better and the other one was messed up, but it looks like we need to go back to the beginning. There are some biomechanical issues with my quads and hip flexors, so I need to be much more diligent about stretching them. I did a lower body workout on Thursday, making sure to warm up the muscles and properly stretch them, and I was able to do weighted lunges which I haven't been able to do without pain in a hot minute. SO YAY.
I was supposed to present at a corporate office this week, but we had a couple colder than normal days, so it was rescheduled til later in the month. Good news is that the presentation is done and rehearsed and ready to go. This weekend we don't have much going on, so it'll probably consist of napping, eating, and watching things. My kind of relaxing.
Here's what I've been loving this week!
He did it! This week, Miles finally started crawling (forwards, ha). He had been pushing himself backwards for awhile now, but while I was taking photos of him in his new wolf hat (obsessed), I noticed that he was getting closer to the camera. I'm so happy because I have a whole series of photos as he gets closer and they are ADORABLE.
He's been on the move since then, thankfully still slowly, and he doesn't know how to go from sitting to crawling, so I at least have a little time before he's unstoppable. 🙂
2. Toll House Espresso Chips
I bought these impulsively when I was at Target the other day and I really like them! I've only eaten them by the handful, but I know they'll be delicious baked into some cookies.
I'm also sure there are fancier espresso-flavored chocolates, but I find that Toll House is always a go-to when it comes to chocolate chips, especially if you're looking for unique flavors!
3. Hair Hack
I have found time and again that my hair looks best after a workout when I simply blow dry it sweaty and then curl it. I always think it's a fluke, but every time it turns out so well.
If I really want it to look good, I wash it the day before and let it air dry, exercise the next morning, dry my hair while it's sweaty, then curl. It's magical and the curls stay all day long. No other products ever seem to compare. May seem gross, but it's really the way to go if you want your hair to look good.
4. The Pharmacist -- Netflix
My next two favorites are documentaries that I watched on Netflix this week. The first is The Pharmacist and of course the title immediately reeled me in. It's about a pharmacist in Louisiana whose son was killed buying drugs. He sets out to find the killer and from there and given his profession, he begins to notice the growing opioid problem in the area. Obviously I had a vested interest in this documentary given that I had a lot of experience in similar situations and I definitely recommend it if it sounds like something you'd be into.
5. Miss Americana -- Netflix
This Taylor Swift documentary was FIRE and somehow made me like her even more which I didn't think was possible.
I love the way it shows her growing up and reflecting on her past. She takes a lot of responsibility for decisions that she once made and is vocal about the damaging effects of being in the public eye. She is using her fame for good and speaking out to help others. It's emotional, enlightening, and inspiring. Definitely worth watching.
That's all for this week friends! I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
