Five Things Friday #276
If you follow me on Instagram, this may be redundant, but if not, then yesterday I had my 28-week follow-up ultrasound appointment to see what, if anything, had changed with the location of my placenta. I was already setting my expectations low and assuming that there would be no movement and that another c-section would be likely, which is what we discovered. What I didn't expect, however, was for there to be more placenta-centered news to further complicate things.
Now, in addition to a complete placenta previa, I also have what's called a placenta accreta. This means that not only is my placenta completely covering my cervix, but it has also adhered to my uterus in a certain spot. In a typical delivery, the baby is delivered and then the placenta comes off in a velcro-like analogy. Because mine has adhered, however, if they're not able to delicately get it off, I will likely need a hysterectomy to prevent "tremendous bleeding," transfusions, and possible death. All of these things also mean that the baby will need to be delivered early -- how early we aren't quite sure of yet -- but the numbers tossed around yesterday were 36-37 weeks. That will mean another NICU stay like Miles, which is another thing I didn't want, but it is what it is I guess.
I have another ultrasound in two weeks to check on things again and consult with a specialist to determine a plan and what we do from there. It's been a tough couple of days, but I'm trying to just let myself feel things and also soak up all the baby Miles snuggles when he lets me. I'll be sure to update you as I get more news, but that's all the news that I have myself right now. It's obviously not ideal and it's a lot, but we will get through it.
Good news is that our house renovations will be done on Monday, so we are aiming to get back into the house that night. It'll be really nice to be back home and with everything pretty much done. As always, I hope you guys are hanging in there and don't hesitate to reach out if you ever need anyone to talk to. Lots of love. 🙂
1. Noosa Greek Yogurt
I'm a big fan of Noosa yogurt and when I was in the store the other day, I noticed that they have also come out with a Greek version. I bought some immediately because I usually stick to Greek yogurt anyway due to its protein count, etc., so this was a win-win. I bought French vanilla and blueberry and both were really good! I need to go back and check other flavors, but I'll definitely be buying more of this when I go. Plus, Miles loves it so that's always a win.
2. Individual cereal cups
I've been craving a lot of cereal this pregnancy -- and not the nutritious kind. Rather than buying boxes and boxes, I find that grabbing a few single-size cups of various ones from my childhood helps satisfy the craving for awhile after I finish them. There also tends to be more in a serving than I would normally pour in a bowl, so I get a nice extra helping of deliciousness. 🙂
3. GT's Living in Gratitude Kombucha
This is one of my FAVORITE GT's flavors, and it's only around during the fall. I had seen it in some other states and kept searching the stores around me, but they were still carrying the summer flavor. Neil FINALLY found it for me at Trader Joe's and I've been so happy with it this week. It's such a comforting blend of fall flavors and I will absolutely be stocking up on it the next time I'm at the store.
4. Enola Holmes
With the lack of new movies in theaters, I always appreciate it when I don't have to watch reruns and things I've already seen over and over again. Enola Holmes has been out for a couple weeks on Netflix, but we only got around to watching it last week while we were on vacation at the beach.
It's so cute and it's just a movie that made me feel happy inside given everything that's going on in the world. Enola is the niece of Sherlock Holmes and sets out on her own detective work when her mother disappears one night. Also, Henry Cavill plays Sherlock which was another draw for me - ha. If you're looking for some laughs and a feel-good movie these days, check it out.
5. The Haunting of Bly Manor
Also on Netflix (and definitely a different genre) is The Haunting of Bly Manor, which is by the same creators as The Haunting of Hill House (also a great show). You don't have to watch Hill House first; it's a similar concept to how American Horror Story is done where they use some of the same actors in subsequent seasons, but the storyline is always new and completely different.
I'm only 4 episodes in, but really like the creepiness of it. I've heard some mixed reviews as the episodes progress, but right now it's been really good to watch. There's a British manor, ghosts, creepy children, secrets, you name it. Looking forward to watching more tonight!
That's all for this week friends! I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
