Five Things Friday #277
How has your week been? We've been back home since Monday evening and it's been great to settle back in. Things are still getting wrapped up with our renovations, but at this point all the interior stuff is small so there aren't people in and out all day. I'm super excited to shop for decor and that's something that's definitely been distracting me from all this pregnancy nonsense. (If you missed what's going on, you can read this week's post which has a lot of detail). I have a follow up appointment next Thursday, which thankfully is close enough that I won't stress myself out before then.
I also met with someone this week that I think we will start using for part-time daycare for Miles in November and going forward, so that makes me feel a little better about getting him socialized (there's one other child who is 6 months older) and also for whenever I have to deliver so that it won't be a total change for him. I waffled back and forth on it for a long time, but after the news that I'd have to deliver soon(ish) and the recovery might be a little more intense depending on what needs to be done, it seemed like the right decision and it'll be nice to have a little time to bond with baby one on one.
I may or may not be painting the inside of the shed this weekend (still working on some timing things with contractor), but other than that not much is going on. Sunday Miles will be 18 months old (!) and we have a family thing to celebrate Dussehra (Indian holiday), so that will be nice. I hope you are all hanging in there and I'll keep you updated as I find out things about baby #2. I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
1. Nugget Couch
Miles needed something for his room where he could sit and play and I had seen so many moms with these Nugget couches that I decided to buy one while decorating his room. The only problem was that by the time I decided to buy one, quarantine was in full effect and the demand for them had risen sharply. There were also shipping delays as their factory was affected by COVID as well, so it wasn't simply just placing an order and getting one.
They went on sale in August and I was luckily able to snag one. I'm giving credit to my skills I honed while buying him all those Native Fable hats, which also sell out almost immediately. Anyway, it arrived the day after we had left our house for the renovations, so we haven't been able to enjoy it until now when we've been home. Since then, they've moved into a larger factory, but are still working on ramping up production and have shifted to a lotto system for now. You can read more about what that means here if you're interested.
Miles really likes it and climbs right up on it to sit and play with toys. The cool thing about the Nugget is that all the parts come apart so you can configure it in lots of different ways -- making forts, obstacle course, whatever you can come up with. I'm excited to play around with it some more and let him climb everywhere. 🙂
2. Think! Creamy Peanut Butter Bars
Neil used to eat these ALL THE TIME and we would have boxes on hand. After my glucose test last week, I needed something to eat, so I ran into Walgreens next door. I like my protein bars to have some kind of combo of PB and chocolate, so when I saw this package I figured it was all PB (obviously I didn't remember from when we used to get them). There wasn't much else to choose from, so I bought it and was really happy when I opened it and the whole outside was chocolate. I've been eating them daily now and have a box coming from Amazon because I NEED THEM.
3. Sour Patch Kids
This pregnancy has turned me into someone I just don't know anymore. I don't feel like having eggs for breakfast, I don't want kombucha daily, and now I'm eating sour candy. WHO AM I??
Neil is the sour candy lover and whenever he has some or has it in the house I never touch it. I'm not even tempted. I'm a sweet candy person all the way, but lately I've been eating more of his Sour Patch Kids and I'm very confused. I guess this baby is definitely his child. 🙂
4. New Kitchen
We are back home after a month and it feels great! We had a lot of projects done, and some aren't quite finished, but the kitchen is all done. We got all new cabinets, backsplash, hood, and this whole left side built out so that our fridge and laundry weren't right next to each other around the corner. It's so great and we love how it turned out!
I plan to write a whole recap of all the renovations we had done, but I want to make sure they're all done before that happens. I had planned on next week, but it's looking like maybe the following. It has been so nice to wake up and walk out to this kitchen every morning.
5. Square Root Nutnola & Nutnola Butter
You may remember my friend Ellie who started a granola company called Hungry By Nature. I've shared about her granola on here a couple times and she recently rebranded to Square Root, so I wanted to share again. Ellie has Celiac disease, so all of the granola is grain-free and gluten-free certified, which is also why it's called nutnola instead of granola. It's the same delicious products, just under a new name (and the packaging is beautiful!).
You can use the code EATSQUAREROOT to save 20% on your order!
That's all for this week friends! I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
