Things I’m Loving Lately – June 2021
Hi friends! Since I stopped doing my Five Things Friday posts, I thought it would be fun to stop in and compile a list of things that I’ve been loving lately. I know a lot of you enjoyed those Friday posts, and I enjoyed them too because it felt like a good way to keep you up to date on what was going on over here. I may get back to them, but for now a toddler, baby, and a dog are keeping me pretty busy. I’d like to find a way to connect and fill you guys in on what’s going on in our little corner of the world, though, so let me know in the comments if that’s something you’d like — maybe a monthly catch up?
I wanted to round up some of the things that I’ve enjoyed lately — from things for me to things for the kids. Let me know some of the things you’re loving lately too!

To be honest, the pandemic really seemed to take away my desire to read and I always felt scattered when I would try and sit down to do it. I go through periods of reading voraciously alternating with periods where I want nothing to do with it, but I was able to get excited enough about at least one book recently.
Food Isn’t Medicine by Dr. Joshua Wolrich – I’ve followed Joshua on Instagram for a couple years now and I love how he advocates for a Health At Every Size approach when treating patients. His book recently came out, which helps to dispel the nonsense that we see in diet culture and not only approaches everything from a scientific perspective, but from one that understands that weight is a very complex and multifaceted issue. Love him so much and this book was a great read!
The Truth About Soulcyle – Health is Hell Podcast – I will listen to a podcast maybe once every six months. I heard about this episode of the Health is Hell podcast and figured I would give it a shot because I’m always interested in what goes on behind the scenes in the fitness industry. I know from my own personal history as an instructor and trainer that things can get a little questionable, so I wanted to hear from instructors, ex-instructors, and employees of this cult-like phenomenon. It’s salacious to say the least and if you’re a fan, I’d recommend listening so that you know who and and what you are supporting.
Ted Lasso – If you’re like me, you’ve likely spent the last year underwhelmed with your TV and movie options. Neil and I recently sat down to try out Ted Lasso and it is something I didn’t even know I needed in my life until I found myself staying up well past my bedtime to keep watching. It’s funny, it’s sweet, and it’s really a breath of fresh air. Season two is already slated to premiere in July and I can’t wait.
Amazon Sandals – I saw these on an Instagram account and normally don’t buy things on a whim, but when I saw the 26K+ positive reviews, I figured I would give them a try. They’re my new favorite sandals and you can find me in them all summer. They’re a MUCH cheaper alternative to Birkenstocks and from day one didn’t need any breaking in. My feet didn’t hurt or get rubbed in a weird way and I’ve already gotten several compliments on them. They come in a ton of colors and patterns, so if you’re in the market for some new sandals, I definitely recommend. I ordered my normal shoe size and they’ve been great!
Smismivo Swimsuit – I bought two of these swimsuits and I really like them. There are lots of color options and I like the amount of coverage. I have a pretty boxy shape, and found that these looked really flattering on me.
Window Crayons – these have been a HUGE hit with Miles for months now. He uses them every day and we are on our second box of them. They last a long time, come off with just water, and are honestly one of the best things I’ve gotten him recently.
Bath Color Changing Tabs – again, a huge hit with Miles and also myself. I am NOT a fan of baths for myself, and often have to combat the same thoughts when I give Miles one. With these tablets, the water turns such a pretty color that I don’t even think about how much I dislike them. There are three colors — red, blue, and yellow, and you can mix them to make purple, orange, and green. I let Miles pick out two for each bath because otherwise he would dump them all in at the same time. I also love that there are 300, so it should last us for quite awhile!
Note: At the time of posting, it looks like the ones we have are currently unavailable on Amazon. Here is a link to other color changing tablet options!
Basic Pajamas on Amazon – I asked a friend on Amazon where her son’s pajamas were from and she sent me the link to these ones. They’re simple, basic, and come in a variety of colors. I’ve also had him just wear the top as well when the weather is a little cooler. I like them because they are snug, which helps because Miles is a tiny guy. 🙂
Letsfit White Noise Machine – When we are at home, we use our Google Home to play white noise for the kids. When we travel, we have had a lot of various issues finding a solution that works for us. I’ve tried several different travel noise machines, but have never been impressed with any of them. We ended up with an extra Google Home mini that was okay, but during our last trip to Myrtle Beach, there was an issue with it connecting to the internet, so it was useless. I decided that I wanted one that just plugged into the wall and that was that. I did some research and ordered one of these, which we took on our most recent family trip. I LOVE IT. It’s loud, there are a ton of sound options (even though we just use the white noise), a timer if you want that, and a little light on the bottom so you can see in the dark. I liked it so much that I bought a second one to use as the white noise in Remy’s room when she moves up there.
Splash Pad – Last year, we had one of those hard plastic kiddie pools, but I found that it was a pain to fill and empty. Plus, Miles didn’t even like it and wanted to stand outside and splash in it instead (ha). So I did some research and ordered one of these splash pads for him and it has been a big hit! You simply hook it up to the hose and can control how high the spray is by how much you turn the hose on. The bottom part also fills with water, so it’s like a little pool that can easily be emptied and folded up when not in use. Since he has been learning all his animals and letters lately, he’s also really excited to point them out and tell me what they are. Once it gets a little warmer you can also find me in here. 🙂
