WIAW: Double Dinners (+ A Lunch) Edition
My focus for this week’s What I Ate Wednesday is mainly on dinners. I went a little crazy this weekend and ended up having two dinners on Friday and Saturday night. I’m not complaining, but it was weird that I ended up doing that two nights in a row. To learn about What I Ate Wednesday, head over to Jenn’s blog for all the details!
I met Neil directly after work and told him that I had run out of time to eat a proper dinner. When we met up, he had gotten me Chipotle. He knows the way to my heart.
We hung out with friends that night and Neil got hungry again, so we went on a late night date to IHOP. As I mentioned on Monday, I saw eggs with BASIL and they had to be mine. Unfortunately, I guess some people like a subtle taste of basil so it wasn’t very strong. Also, I don’t know how I feel about basil in my eggs. It was almost too sweet. I can eat (drink) it all day in my chocolate blueberry basil smoothie, but eggs might be a bit much.
Saturday Neil wanted Chinese food and I couldn’t think of anything else I would want, so I got steamed chicken and broccoli. I am really not a big fan of Chinese food, but chicken and broccoli is always fine by me.
Side note: We used to just throw away our extra brown rice, but I saved it along with all the broccoli that I couldn’t eat and it has made lunch prep very easy this week. I’ve been making all sorts of brown rice bowls and it has come in really handy. Make sure to save those extra foods that you can reuse throughout the week!
Later that night we met up with a friend who hadn’t eaten dinner yet, so off we went to dinner number two. I could have just not eaten, but what’s the fun in that? Actually, I wish I had not eaten because my dinner wasn’t that great, but oh well! We went to Famous Dave’s and I ordered a BBQ pulled chicken sandwich which was less than stellar. It looked like cat food. At least the super hot sauce and grilled pineapples made up for it.
This lunch was too pretty to not include in my recap. Sunday I treated myself to lunch and a leisurely stroll around Wegmans (supermarkets are my happy place).
I wanted to try out their already prepared salads, so I grabbed this one since I liked most of the ingredients. I picked out the cheese and olives (gross), and the rest was history.
I couldn’t decide if I wanted sushi or that salad, so I compromised by getting this veggie wrap from the sushi section. I pulled out the cucumbers because, again, gross.
For one final note, I figured that this food post would be an appropriate place to include my weakness this week:
This is the most delicious flavor of KIND bar that I have ever had. I love the mixture of maple and salt and have been eating one every day. I probably have to buy a box. If you like maple, BUY THIS.
