Surprise!

Surprise! Miles is going to be a big brother 🙂

I’m wrapping up 12 weeks today and wanted to share the news with all of you. It was definitely a factor in our move because we realized that now that I was pregnant again, we ACTUALLY had to make moves instead of just continuing to have Miles share our room with us.

When we realistically looked at Chicago real estate and the type of home we would want with two children, it just didn’t seem to make financial sense. We also didn’t have any family in the area, and having two kids will definitely be a different ride than one. I talked about all our other reasons for moving in this post, but ultimately the pregnancy was the catalyst for reevaluating our city life.

I’ll go into more details in my first trimester post, but suffice to say this time around has NOT been as easy as the first. I’ve been far more exhausted and nauseous than I was with Miles, who I had to always remind myself I was pregnant with because the symptoms were so mild.

So we are looking at welcoming a new baby in early January and are both so excited. As you can see, Miles wasn’t quite so sure, but then realized that he has a new person to show off his foot too and he was ok with the news. 🙂

Thank you guys for being here and following along with our little (growing) family. You’re the best.

  1. I AM SO EXCITED FOR YOU GUYS. I’m sure it’s been a whirlwind few weeks (months?) but what a beautiful time for your family. Miles is going to be the best big brother.

  2. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! I am so excited for you and Neil! And Monkey’s going to be a big brother !?! That sweet smile and foot showing. I am so happy for you all. What a journey its been so far and will be!!

Truly so impressed by you and all that you’ve done. You’re a huge role model to me.

  3. 👶🏻👶🏻👶🏻👶🏻👶🏻👶🏻! Congratulations!! I love that you guys decided to move closer to family as your own family is growing. Personally, I think it’s SO important for kids to be close to as much family as possible. Especially grandparents! Having a relationship with older people helps them develop beautiful qualities that sometimes are missing when they don’t have that connection.
Super excited for you guys! 🥳

  4. So happy for you all!! <3 Can't wait to see everyone now that you're closer 🙂

Miles looks like he's ready to say "Aw Snap!" with his right hand in that top photo!

  5. Congratulations! This is exciting news! I’ve been reading your blog for awhile now. Really enjoy it.

  6. Congratulations to you, Neil, & Miles on the move & the upcoming addition to your family. When I read your post about the NC move, I said in my head, “I bet she’s pregnant again.” LOL You are SO right … two kids is a lot different than just having one. I’m so glad you all are in a bigger space, closer to family, & in a community that is ideal to raise a family in. I am sorry to hear you’ve felt worse, but not surprised. My OB/GYN always said this; “It gets harder to grow & carry them, but easier to get them out.” As a mom of three, I agree wholeheartedly!! I felt the most nauseous & fatigued when I was pregnant w/ my last .. a girl … so maybe Miles is going to have a sister. I know you & Neil will be thrilled whatever the sex of your second little one is. Take good care of yourself. XO
