A Slightly Important Announcement - Erin's Inside Job

A Slightly Important Announcement

So I have some news…

I’m pregnant!

I’m currently 13.5 weeks pregnant and have been DYING to tell you guys. It’s been such a struggle because you know I like to be pretty open about everything going on in my life. This felt like such a huge secret that I couldn’t share and on top of just feeling a little weird emotionally the first trimester, I felt blocked creatively because all I wanted to do was talk about what was REALLY going on.

I found out pretty early because I was obsessively tracking my ovulation and using cheap pregnancy test strips at home and after four months of trying — SUCCESS. I actually felt like we were out that month too, but was surprised when I saw the test come back positive. I ran to Target to buy another test (duh), took it in their bathroom, and then walked around on the street with it in my purse so that I wasn’t just sitting in a Target bathroom forever getting weird looks. I set a timer on my phone and when I checked it, that one was positive too. BAM. Baby Bahadur.

I will write a more detailed first trimester post so if you have any questions, please comment or email me and I’ll make sure to include them. There will be sporadic pregnancy posts here and there as we get to May, but it is not my intention to have this blog turn into mom-only content. I’m also planning a post on my decision to start a family and how I knew it was a good time (hint: my therapist told me to stop being dumb), so that should be a fun one too. If the pregnancy posts don’t float your boat, feel free to skip them as I did when I wasn’t pregnant or had no interest in the “best baby gear,” but I will admit that now that we are on this journey I’ve gone back to some of my friend’s posts about it. So never say never. AND SEND ME ALL YOUR BEST BABY GEAR. 🙂

I’m SO HAPPY that I can share this with you now and make sure to follow along on Instagram since I’ll probably have more frequent updates there on my stories. To wrap it up, here is a picture of Neil and I after I made him take 213245677 selfies. I promise he is very excited about this little nugget. 🙂

  1. I am SOOOO happy for you! I will be happy to share baby gear advice. First up, changing tables are unnecessary. Get a Thule Urban Glide instead 😉
Best news in an otherwise crummy week…yay!

  2. OMG!!! Congratulations Erin!!! This is huge and so exciting!! Cannot wait to follow along in your journey 🙂

  3. Erin!!!
So excited for you and Neil…like I shouldn’t be this excited for a person I don’t know IRL 😂
Despite your fears, you’re going to be an amazing mom. All the best to you on this journey!!! And if you ever need advice or to commiserate, hit me up. There’s no shortage of parent/pregnancy stuff on the web, but I won’t BS you!

  4. Erin,

You better believe we ALL want as many “Human Donut Baking” posts as you want to share. I can only imagine how exciting this is for both you and Neil. I hope you guys will stay in the City to raise the baby instead of moving to the suburbs. But NO leaving IL because I want to meet you one day! 🙂

  5. Congratulations to you and Neil! This is certainly an exciting time! Prayers for your family for healthy Mom, baby and Dad too.

  6. I can’t tell you how thrilled I am for you & Neil. First, thrilled that the two of you have worked so hard on yourselves individually & as a couple so that you could get to a place where having a child was a happy choice. You’ll be an awesome mama & May is the best time to have a little one. My first was born on May 12th, so I speak from experience. You’ll be able to get outside w/ the bambino which definitely helps w/ the hormonally-induced emotional up’s & down’s.
Take good care of you, my friend❤️❌⭕️

  7. Dude. I am SO frickin excited for you and LOVE that you took the second test in the Target bathroom. Totally something I’d do. Also very much looking forward to all the pregnancy-related post, especially the one about how you decided it was time. I feel like my therapist is going to say something very similar to me soon. haha

I know we don’t know each other irl but I truly feel like you’re just a great friend and I’m so happy for you!
